Common questions
- How hard is the EPA 608 exam?
- It is a rules exam, not a skills exam. The pass mark is around 70% — roughly 18 of 25 questions per section — and most failures come from answering how the job is done on site rather than what the regulation actually requires.
- How many questions are on the EPA 608 test?
- Twenty-five per section. Core is required for every certification, then you sit Type I, Type II and/or Type III. Passing Core plus all three types gives you Universal.
- Is there a free EPA 608 practice test?
- Yes. The Core practice test here is free with no signup, and there are sample questions from each type section as well.
- What is the best way to study for the EPA 608 exam?
- Drill the numbers until they stop moving — evacuation levels, leak repair thresholds, recordkeeping timescales. The exam has a narrow, well-defined scope, so targeted practice beats re-reading the regulation.
